An evening of Gamelan Selonding and Jegog at Bagus Jati

Will you be in Ubud on 9th July? Spend an evening listening to harmonious Balinese music at Bagus Jati while enjoying traditional Balinese food prepared with plenty of organic vegetables from the Bagus Jati organic garden.

Gamelan Selonding
Gamelan Selonding is a Balinese  musical intrument usually found in the village of Tenganan, Karangasem in East Bali. It is believed that this music originated from heaven and was handed down by God. The Balinese Selonding is only performed during religious cermonial events. Specially for this evening, the Selonding owned by a Balinese priest in Ketewel village will be used.

Jegog
Due to limited rainfall in Negara, a regency in West Bali, crop production is much less and being the major source of income, the local people could not afford the more expensive bronze instruments. Turning to bamboo as their base material, they created 14 instruments which became known as the “Jegog”.
