Bali will play host to the Ninth International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific from August 9th to 13th 2009. About 500 delegates from 50 countries are expected to attend the 5 day conference in Nusa Dua.

The theme of the conference will be “Empowering the People, Reinforcing Networks”. According to the official website of the Ninth ICAAP, the empowerment of people – both HIV-positive and HIV-negative vulnerable to HIV – and the strengthening of networks – faith-based organizations, communities, governments, regions, sectors, as well as individuals – are important components to addressing this change.

The congress aims to address issues of mobility, migration, as well as gender and people with disabilities in order to empower the people and strengthen networks to effectively respond to AIDS.
