There are many family friendly hotels in Bali although rooms are very limited and hard to come by during the holiday season. So you will have to book in advance.  If you are looking for a hotels with Kids Clubs, family rooms, babysitting services and a range of activities for children, you will find them listed below.   Those with childrens’ facilities tend to be the larger all-in 4 star and 5 star international chain resorts that have a Kids Club or Resort for children aged 3 to 12 years old. Activities include cultural activities such as Balinese dance, offering making. Other activities include games, drawing, story telling and supervised playgrounds. Professional childcare services are also available at larger hotels.  Hotels with water slides include the Nikko Hotel and Westin Nusa Dua.

In Ubud however, hotels there do not have Kids clubs, extra large swimming pools or playgrounds as Ubud has long been accepted as a honeymoon and couples destination. However, most hotels, including luxury hotel villas accept children under 12 yrs old at no extra charge. Only a handful of villa hotels in Ubud strictly do not accept children. There is nothing that can be done about this unfortunately.

First of all, you might want to decide which part of Bali you would like to stay in. In general, there are 3 main areas ; Central Bali which is where Ubud town is, South Bali (north of Bali airport) which we shall say covers the coastal towns of Kuta-Legian, Seminyak, Sanur , and Bali’s Southern Peninsular (south of Bali airport) where Nusa Dua, Benoa and Jimbaran are located. Most family holidays are centered around the beach resorts as that is where you will find the most activities.

For families with 3 kids or more, you’ll have a tougher time looking for a hotel which can accommodate all of you into 1 room, especially if you are on a lower budget, but there are places you can stay at. Try Holiday Inn Baruna Bali in Kuta , Bali Mandira, The Breezes Resort and Spa  in Seminyak or Sanur Paradise Family Suites which has apartments with kitchens and facilities for children of all ages. Or you could stay in a villa such as Sienna Villas in Seminyak or Villa de Daun in Legian-Kuta which has 3 and 4 bedroom villas.

BALI MANDIRA BEACH RESORT

The Bali Mandira Resort is a beach front resort ideal for the family. While it does not have a childrens club, the hotel does welcome children to stay at no extra cost. Up to 2 children below the age of 12  may share the same room with their parents free of charge. Breakfast is extra.

PATRA BALI RESORT AND SPA

The Patra Bali Resort in Kuta is another family friendly beach front resort in Kuta.  The hotel has a Kid’s Club equipped with a homely TV-room, a range of educative art and sport activities, and a list of fun-filled outdoor programs to keep your children well entertained.  The hotel also has 3 swimming pools and tennis courts.

Children’s Policy at the Patra Bali Resort

Children under 6 yrs old can stay free in rooms with their parents where extra beds are permitted. Children between 6 and 11 yrs old can have a free bed, but breakfast is chargeable.  The Deluxe Suite can take up to 3 children with the 3rd child paying only for breakfast.

Hotel Santika Premiere Beach Resort
Hotel Santika is a beach front hotel comprising 171 rooms, suites and private bungalows.  While this hotel dose not have a Kid’s Club, it does have facilities for children and a large family room. The Garden Double Queen Bungalow is ideal for families with children. This bungalow has 2 Queen sized beds and comfortably accommodates a family with 2 children.  It is possible to add 1 extra bed here to accommodate a family of 5.  Guests staying in bungalows or suites  will have access to a 24 hr butler service.

Children Meal Policy
You will also have meal savings at this family friendly resort. 1 child below the age of 5 can eat free, and 1 child below the age of 12 is entitled to 50% off meals while dining with parents. The children meal policy applies to buffet meals only.  You have a choice of 3 restaurants serving Balinese food, pizza, pasta and international cuisine.

Nusa Dua is where you will find many 5 star resorts and international hotel chains.  Most of the hotels are beach front hotels and while they might be 5 star hotels, they can be affordable if you are staying with your family and book a family room.

NIKKO BALI HOTEL

Nikko Hotel Bali is a beach front luxury resort in Nusa Dua with its own private beach. It is located on a cliff face and many of the rooms have ocean views. Those further in the back will have garden views. This family friendly hotel has 4 interconnected swimming pools and a 30 meter water slide.

Facilities catering to Children

The Jungle Camp is a kids club for children aged 4 to 12 yrs old. It has tree houses, a climbing rock facility, trampoline and a wide variety of full day programs.  There are also Balinese culture activities where children can learn phrases, dances, and arts and crafts of the island.  See the list of activities offered.

The Grand Hyatt Bali is located in the gated Nusa Dua complex where you will find other 5 star hotels, shopping (Galeria Nusa Dua) and many restaurants. Camp Nusa caters to children 3 – 13 years old. Organised activities include fish feeding, sports and games, Balinese arts and crafts and many more. Qualified child care professionals are also on hand to take care of your children while you enjoy the resort’s facilities.

There isn’t a family room available, however you can book the Grand Room which has a day bed.  This room can comfortably sleep 2 adults and 1 child at no extra charge. If you have 2 children, one child will have to sleep in the King bed with parents and share the day bed. Breakfast will be extra.

MELIA BALI VILLAS & SPA

Melia Bali is a 4 star beachfront resort surrounded by lush tropical gardens.  The resort is ideal for the whole family with the wide range of activities and recreational facilities available. Melia Bali welcomes children under 12yrs of age to stay free of charge if no extra bedding is required.  Breakfast is additional at a small charge. For 2 or more children, choose the Family Room which includes bedding for up to 3 children  inclusive of breakfast in the room rate.

Activities for the whole family
Melia Bali has a lagoon style swimming pool. tennis court , squash court, table tennis, giant chess, a fitness center, extensive water sport facilities and beach activities. There are also scheduled activities such cooking demonstrations, cycling and Balinese dance lessons. Your children may play in the childrens’ playground. Babysitting services are also available.

1 child under 12 yrs : Superior and Deluxe Rooms can take 1 child under 12 yrs old free of charge if no extra bed is required.   Breakfast is additional.

2 children under 12 yrs : The Duplex Suite takes up to 2 children if no extra bed is required and breakfast is additional.

3 children under 12 yrs : The Family Room accommodates 2 adults and up to 3 children with breakfast included for all 5. Children must be under 12 years for a free stay. Those over the age of 12 yrs are charged the extra bed rate.

It has an area for arts and crafts, an Internet cave with monitored computer use and a cozy reading corner for story telling.
