Discovered in 1954 during an excavation, these stone water maidens at Goa Gajah are holding jars spouting water into huge pools. This is meant to be a sort of fountain of youth and bathing in them is supposed to keep one young.

There are three pools, the one on the left is for women, the one on the right for men and both of these have maidens. The central one  which is the smallest and a holy pool used to have statues but they may have been removed although it is not known by whom or how they got out.
