The Japanese “BON Dance Festival” will be held at the Champa Garden, Ayana Resort in Jimbaran on Saturday 10th October. This event has been organized by Japan Club Bali and will run from 6pm until 9.30pm.The BON Dance Festival is a major annual event on the Japanese calendar. It is a Japanese custom to honor the departed spirits of one’s ancestors. During this time, the spirits are supposed to visit the household alters. Thus people return to their ancestral family homes to visit and clean their ancestors’ graves. A traditional dance known as the Bon-Odori is performed to welcome the spirits. The dance involves people gathering round a tall wooden structure called a yargura, circling clockwise or anti-clockwise and moving towards and away from the yargura.
About 3,000 visitors are expected. To accommodate this function, Ayana Resort has made special security procedures and additional parking space for about 500 vehicles.
All resort facilities will remain open during this event, which is being held at our outdoor event space located near the main security gate, away from the hotel proper.
