Tanah Lot is one of the most famous tourist sites in Bali. I am sure you’ve heard of this famous place. Its a temple that sits on a rock just off the South West coast of Bali. The temple itself is rather ordinary on its own. It is unique in that it sits on a rock underneath of which are hundreds of poisonous black sea snakes. what turns Tanah Lot into an attractive tourist attraction is the sunset. Tanah Lot is in fact one of the 6 most holy temples in Bali. For this reason, it is also visited by many local Balinese and many fishermen come here to pray for a bountiful catch.

But how did Tanah Lot come about? The story goes that there was a priest from Java who came to this area. He later suggested that a temple be built on this spot.  Whatever the stories behind this mysterious temple, it is a must visit on any trip to Bali.
