Generally, Ubud is not known for budget accommodation, however there are a number a small bungalows which offer basic but affordable and clean rooms. These bungalows or cottages are locally owned by land owners in Ubud and they usually do not have an offical website so they tend to be hard to find until you stumble upon them by accident.  On such budget hotel is Minami Kerta Bungalow.

Minami Kerta is a budget hotel in Ubud which is clean and basically comfortable.  Located smack right in the centre of Ubud, on the main Monkey Forest Road, Minami Kerta Bungalow consists of bungalow style rooms with balconies that face the padi fields.

This is indeed a gem in Ubud. A small homey place run by a friendly local Balinese family, keen to make you feel at home.

Why would you stay at Minami Kerta Bungalow?
Well you might be on a tight budget – and rooms here are priced very reasonably from only US$28 (starting April 2009 – March 2010) and include breakfast and taxes. You will be out sightseeing and shopping most of the day and are OK with a clean and basically comfortable place to spend the night at.

Or you might be looking for long term accommodation in Ubud. This would certainly be ideal.  In fact, for the price you are paying for a town center hotel with padi field views (breakfast and 21% taxes included), you are most certainly getting more than what you pay for.

The balconies on the 2nd floor have lovely view of the padi fields. They are spacious and good to sit out on if you are in the hotel during the day.

Rooms at Minami Kerta Budget Hotel – There are 4 types of rooms at Minami Kerta : Rama Shita Room, Legong Room, Kecak Room and Baris Room. The Rama Shita Rooms are on the 1st floor and are air conditioned. All other rooms have ceiling fans. The Legong and Baris rooms are on the 2nd level and you will be able to enjoy the padi field view better from your balcony. There are only 2 of each type of room available.

All rooms have basic amenities such as Television, a bathroom with bathtub and hot shower, and a wide terrace or balcony.
