Virgin Blue Airlines commenced flights to Bali from Australia on 1st December 2008. The airline operates 11 direct flights between Australia and Bali using B737-800 aircrafts with a capacity of 168 seats. This would bring an estimated 70,000 passengers to Bali per year from Australia. It is hoped that these new flights will increase Bali’s potential as the largest tourist destination in Indonesia. Flights depart from Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane to Ngurah Rai Denpasar Bali Airport. Virgin Blue Airlines is the only Australian carrier to operate direct flights to Bali from Adelaide and Brisbane.
