Room
A hotel room is a single hotel room with one or two beds and at most a small living area and table or desk.
Suite
A suite is a hotel room with 2 rooms ; a bedroom and a living room that is separated by a wall with a door.. It is often 2 connecting rooms where the living room may have a sofa bed and can also take an extra bed. A suite can also be 2 bedrooms connected together, such as in a Family Suite where there is 1 bedroom with a King bed, and another with Twin beds.
Beach Resort
A beach resort is a large hotel with direct access to a beach and usually has many facilities. It is ideal for families and those who prefer a resort with activities.
City Hotel
A city hotel is any hotel that does not have direct beach access but could be across the road from a beach or only a few minutes walk to the beach such as the many hotels located in Kuta. The difference is that you would have to leave the hotel premises to go to the beach. City hotels are often within walking distance to shops, restaurants and entertainment areas.
Luxury Hotel
A luxury hotel can be a city hotel or beach resort. It is usually part of an international chain of hotels, has a high standard of service, fine furnishings and a wide range of restaurants serving a variety of high quality cuisine.
Hotel Villa or Hotel Villa Complex
A hotel villa is actually a room located in a hotel that resembles a villa with a thatched roof. These villas come in various types. They could be a villa with no surrounding walls and have interiors of a standard hotel room. Or they could be a villa with a surrounding wall. The bedrooms are not usually separate from the living area. A hotel villa will not have a kitchen, separate living room nor a proper dining area as the hotel will have restaurants and room service. They may have a jacuzzi or plunge pool. In a few luxury hotels, a villa may have a small garden, a swimming pool instead of a plunge pool, a separate living room and dining area. However these villas will not usually have a fully equipped kitchen as they are located within a hotel with restaurants. A hotel villa complex is a hotel that only has villas as rooms. It will have the same facilities as any hotel would such as a lobby or front desk, restaurants, main swimming pool and other recreational facilities. Example of a hotel villa complex.
Villa Complex or Private Villa Complex
A villa complex a property that consists of usually 5 or more villas with a surrounding wall for privacy. Unlike hotel villas, these villas will often come with a fully equipped kitchen as there is usally no restaurant on site although some villa complexes may have 1 restaurant. The villas will have private pools, a living room and indoor or semi-outdoor dining area. A villa complex usually does not have facilities such as a gym, kids club, spa facility or common swimming pool. These villas usually come with a butler service and private driver. You will find many villa complexes in the Seminyak and Kerobokan area, about 25-30 minutes north of Bali airport. Example of a private villa complex.
Private Villa
A luxury private villa estate is a large property owned by an individual and is often designed by award winning archictects from around the world. Private villas will have a large swimming pool, can have an upper level, a large well furnished living room, an indoor dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. A private villa usually comes with 2 to 5 bedrooms. They are designed for a large family or group of friends. Many of these villas are located in Seminyak, Kerobokan and Canggu. A private villa of course has no restaurant or facilities that you would find in hotel although it may have a butler service and villa manager. Examples of Luxury Private Villas.
