Scuba Diving Sites in Bali
There are many excellent scuba diving sites in Bali. Here are a few of the more interesting sites.
1) Tulamben
By far probably the most interesting of scuba diving sites in Bali. The famous wreck here is the USS Liberty Shipwreck which is located 30 meters offshore. The ship sunk on January 11th, 1942 after being hit by torpedoes from a Japanese submarine while it was crossing the Lombok Straits. The wreck actually stretches from about 6 metres offshore to 35 meters off shore. There is good growth of encrusting animals on the wreck and a great variety of fish.
2. Amed
Located on the East Coast of Bali, this dive site is only about 5 minutes from the beach by an outrigger boat. It is a good shore dive with colourful tropical fish, coral and gorgonians. The coral here is excellent and just off the beach Waters heare a calm with good visibility, about 10 – 20 metres. There is an excellent variety of fish.
3. Gili Topekong, Biaha and Mimpang
This site is about one and a half hours from Denpasar in Candidasa. The dive site offers a nice underwater panorama. Steep corals walls and underwater canyon make this an interesting site to explore. Currents are strong and suitable for experienced divers. Plenty of fish here and visibility is poor to good.
